You never want it to happen but pretty much every driver, at some point or another, will get in their car or truck, turn the key in the ignition and hear nothing but a sputtering sound. More often than not this is a battery issue. Don’t panic! Just call Cap Towing & Recovery.
What is wrong with my car battery?
If you have an issue with the battery of your car then it is probably one of three possible issues.
- You left a light on in the vehicle for a long time and the battery has been used up.
- Your battery is old and it has just naturally reached the end of its life. (To avoid this, remember that the average battery life is approximately 4 years)
- The problem could be with the alternator. This is the part of the car which charges the battery by transforming the mechanical energy of the engine into electrical energy. If the connection to the battery is broken or the alternator is damaged then it will not recharge the battery;
making it impossible to start the engine.
How will I know if my battery needs to be jumpstarted, or completely replaced?
When we arrive we can perform a battery test to see how much juice you battery has left. Depending on the issue we can jump start your vehicle, replace the battery or tow your vehicle to a mechanic.
Can you replace my car battery on the spot?
Yes, in most cases we can.
